BHARATPOL

New portal launch by CBI

On January 7, 2025, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, inaugurated the BHARATPOL portal, developed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. This initiative marks a significant advancement in India's international investigative capabilities, aligning with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's vision of a developed India by 2047.

Key Features of BHARATPOL:

  • Enhanced Connectivity: BHARATPOL enables seamless integration of Indian law enforcement agencies with INTERPOL's network across 195 countries, facilitating swift and secure information exchange.
  • Comprehensive Modules: The portal comprises five key modules—Connect, INTERPOL Notices, References, Broadcast, and Resources—each designed to streamline international cooperation in criminal investigations.
  • Real-Time Interface: This feature ensures prompt responses to both domestic and international requests, expediting processes such as the issuance of Red Corner Notices and other alerts.

Shri Amit Shah emphasized that BHARATPOL, in conjunction with the newly introduced criminal laws, provides a robust framework to apprehend fugitives who have fled abroad. Notably, the 'Trial in Absentia' provision allows for legal proceedings and sentencing in the absence of the accused, ensuring that justice is not delayed.

The portal's access to 19 types of INTERPOL databases enhances its capacity to analyze and prevent crimes, aiding in the apprehension of criminals involved in drug trafficking, arms smuggling, human trafficking, and other cross-border offenses.

During the event, Shri Amit Shah also presented police medals to 35 distinguished CBI officers, recognizing their exemplary service and contributions to law enforcement.

The launch of BHARATPOL signifies a pivotal step in India's commitment to strengthening its law enforcement infrastructure, enhancing international collaboration, and ensuring a safer and more secure nation as it progresses towards its centenary of independence.
